‘What you need to know to be accredited with Medco’
MedCo is the system used to facilitate the sourcing of medical report providers in claims brought under the Ministry of Justice RTA Small Claims Pre-Action Protocol or the Pre-Action Protocol for Low Value Personal Injury Claims in Road Traffic Accidents.
All medical experts wanting to receive work via MedCo, either directly from instructing parities (such as firms of solicitors) or indirectly (via Medical Reporting Organisations), must be accredited by MedCo.
To become accredited, experts must complete an initial online training course. This takes approximately 30 to 40 hours and is currently made up of 11 modules.
You can find out more information about how to register and the accreditation course using the links below

Please also note, in addition to the initial 30-40 hour accreditation course there are annual registration fees to pay and a requirement to complete annual Continuous Professional Development, currently set at 6 hours per annum.
Once an expert becomes operational on MedCo, they may wish to opt in to also receive and accept work from unrepresented claimants via the Official Injury Claims service. If they wish to do so then they must undergo and pass an audit.
Information relating to the Opt-in process to accept and receive work from unrepresented claimants and the Audit can be found using the links below;

Please also note that the MedCo system only ensures accredited medical experts are presented in a random but fair manner to instructing parties conducting searches. MedCo does not guarantee selections or any volume of work.
